Does VPS hosting support Ruby applications well, and is it a good environment for running Ruby projects? (40 อ่าน)

Is a VPS the best environment for Ruby on Rails projects compared to shared hosting? I need to use RVM and custom background jobs, so I’m wondering how much flexibility I’ll actually get.

Yeah, a VPS with Ruby support is actually one of the best setups if you’re working with Ruby or Ruby on Rails. You get full root access, so you can install any Ruby version, use tools like RVM or rbenv, and configure your environment exactly how you need.
It’s also much more flexible than shared hosting because you can run databases, background jobs, and frameworks without restrictions. Most VPS setups are designed for this kind of workload, so performance and stability are usually solid as long as you pick enough CPU and RAM for your app.

That’s great to hear. Since I need to run Redis for my background workers, will a standard VPS allow me to manage those services alongside Rails without constant crashes?

Definitely! Since you have dedicated resources, you can run Redis and Sidekiq smoothly. Just make sure you have at least 2GB of RAM so the system doesn't swap when your background jobs start processing.
