For example, in Switzerland, it&rsquo;s illegal to flush your toilet after 10 p.m. in some apartments because it&rsquo;s considered noise pollution. Meanwhile, in Singapore, chewing gum is banned unless it&rsquo;s for medical purposes&mdash;so if you&rsquo;re caught blowing a bubble, you might actually face a fine!

<p data-start="467" data-end="729">In Thailand, stepping on money is against the law since the King&rsquo;s face is printed on the currency, and it&rsquo;s seen as disrespectful. Over in Venice, Italy, feeding pigeons in St. Mark&rsquo;s Square is banned to protect the city&rsquo;s historic buildings from bird damage.

<p data-start="731" data-end="944">Even in the U.S., some bizarre local laws still exist. In Arizona, it&rsquo;s illegal for donkeys to sleep in bathtubs, and in Alabama, wearing a fake mustache in church that makes people laugh can get you in trouble.

While they may sound funny, each one has a reason behind it&mdash;often rooted in respect, safety, or just old-fashioned common sense.

This was such a fun read! I&rsquo;ve always been fascinated by how different states come up with their own unusual rules, and this reminded me of my own curiosity about Strange State Laws. While working with Sevens Legal, I actually came across a few surprising ones that still exist today &mdash; some are so odd you&rsquo;d think they were jokes!
