Do these newer AGM batteries actually hold up better in the Dubai heat or is it just marketing? (8 อ่าน)

My old BMW has been giving me the occasional "increased battery discharge" warning on the iDrive and while it still starts fine most days, I can tell the original battery is on borrowed time after six years which is honestly a miracle given how many electronics this thing has even when it's parked. I've been trying to educate myself a bit before I just hand over my credit card at the first shop that pops up, because apparently with these German cars you can't just slap in any old battery off the shelf without registering it to the car's computer and messing with the charging profile. Started looking into the difference between standard flooded batteries and AGM or EFB ones and whether the extra cost actually translates to longer life out here where summer basically tries to murder everything under the hood every single day. I stumbled across a few forum threads where people were discussing local options and someone mentioned they'd had good guidance from a place that actually took the time to explain the right spec for the car instead of just selling whatever was in stock, they referenced Battery Zone UAE expert battery solutions which sounds like exactly the kind of hand holding I need when I'm trying not to fry a perfectly good ECU. I guess my main hesitation is whether I'm overthinking this whole thing and should just let the dealership handle it for double the price and a lot less mental gymnastics, or if there's genuinely a right and wrong choice for this climate beyond just getting the biggest one that fits in the tray.
